What is Relational Therapy?

In Relational Therapy, the therapeutic relationship itself is a key part of healing. It’s important that you feel seen, understood, and valued. Together, we’ll build a safe, supportive space where I listen with curiosity and compassion. My approach is client-led, so you decide what feels most important to bring into our sessions. We will look at patterns in your thinking and behaviour- some common themes that I see are putting others’ needs ahead of one’s own; feeling not good enough; feeling pressure to be the responsible one, the perfect one. We’ll explore these beliefs and patterns, and what they mean to you.

Couples: I work with all types of relationships—queer, straight, monogamous, and polyamorous, including interracial and intercultural partnerships. I’m mindful of how personal differences and broader systemic factors can shape your relationship. I also use a developmental model, which helps normalize the challenges in your relationship and tailor my work to where you are in your couple development. Together, we’ll work toward better communication, deeper understanding, rebuilding trust, and strengthening connections. You may want to start considering:

What would growth look like for you in your relationship?

About Andrea

I’m a biracial, bilingual woman based in Toronto, offering therapy in English and French (she/her).

My work is grounded in an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and LGBTQ2S+ affirming approach, with a strong commitment to creating a safe, inclusive space for clients.

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, trained in Relational Psychotherapy and EMDR. I also integrate IFS (Parts Work), DBT, and CBT.

I have extensive experience in mental health and addiction services. I hold an MA in Criminology from the University of Toronto and previously managed mental health services at a Toronto courthouse. I later earned a B.Ed. (2006) and taught with the TDSB for 18 years, including three years teaching in Ghana, West Africa.

It is important to acknowledge that I am a grateful guest on the traditional territory of the Wendat, the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, including the lands protected by Treaty 13 and the Dish with One Spoon Wampum.
